GoldenChild Therapy™
GoldenChild Therapy: There are seven types of therapy provided, namely physiology therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy. These therapy is conducted under close supervision of selected specialists. Physiology therapy focuses on the rehabilitation of the human body, which involves activities concerning basic movement skills such as crawling, walking, running, jumping, and kicking. Occupational therapy teaches persons with disabilities in various occupational skills. Lastly, Speech therapy focuses on verbal communications skills that help persons with speech impediments to learning to speak better.
Our mission is to develop person-centered, family-focused solutions, which are flexible, responsive, and evidence oriented. We believe that every individual has the right to be an active participant in the community and to make choices about things that matter. These values are demonstrated in the work that we do, and the way that we do it. We aim to support and empower individuals on the spectrum and their families to bring about meaningful change based on functional goals. We work in partnership with the individual and their support network to identify strengths, areas of need, and develop intervention strategies that work in with interests, capabilities, and cultural beliefs. Our therapy services include speech pathology, occupational therapy, psychology, education and skills development, positive behavior support, and parent training.
Our therapy services include the following:
- Assessment of individual needs and current levels of functioning
- Individual therapy focusing upon the core development needs
- Providing shadow aides and other support persons to assist them to promote the individual’s learning
- Session notes which include strategies to promote learning and development at home and in other settings
- Consultation and collaboration with other service providers and places of education
- Assistance to purchase resources that support intervention (as necessary and reasonable)
Beyond the diagnosis and therapy, GoldenChild providing exceptional education and giving students the opportunity to thrive at their own pace is our top priority. Our highly trained team is dedicated to making sure your child is receiving all the necessary support to allow them to learn to the best of their abilities. Whether your child is ready for a small classroom setting or benefits from 1:1 support, we have a program that will be just the right fit!
Additional support for students is available through our Support Level program, which allows students to receive additional shared support within the classroom. For some children, a school can be stressful and cause a lot of anxiety. With the academic and social demands that come with school, it is easy for an anxious child to become overwhelmed and even withdrawn. As a result, these students are unable to cope in a busy classroom environment and they begin to dislike school and learning. There are other students who enjoy school but require more individual support to help them achieve their best and to prepare them for normal school years.
All of these therapists are certified through GoldenChild Professional Certification Courses, a professional certification program by Globalink, HRDF, and the National Association of Learning Disabilities.
